At the southwest corner of the island, at the juncture of two sea walls, a plump pocket beach has accreted¡Xa perfect natural landing, you might think, for small-boat mariners wishing to visit the famous statue. In the current political climate, unfortunately, that kind of notion isn't something the National Park Service is prepared to entertain. But maybe someday!
