Liberty State Park North, Jersey City

Back to Map

There are a number of possible landings on both sides of the channel leading into the large marina at Liberty State Park, just south of the Goldman Sachs tower on Exchange Place.

On the south side of the channel is a gravel cove suitable for landing at high tide but probably not at low, due to numerous submerged rocks.

On the north side of the channel is a little park commemorating the old Morris Canal, and "Brick Beach" is where a bed of well-rounded brick fragments make landing possible. (Beware of wakes, however, which can cause those same smooth bricks to inflict a real beating on a delicate hull).

There's a third beach here, out on the Hudson itself. It's right under the octagonal, 30-foot-high Colgate clock, which is the last remnant of the giant toothpaste factory that once stood here. With a bit of cleanup it, too, could become a serviceable landing.
