This great beach, tucked in next to the Socrates Sculpture Park at the south end of Hallets Cove, is graced with a beautiful elm tree that offers welcome shade. Just across from the northern tip of Roosevelt Island, It's a good place to rest while waiting for the tide to turn in nearby Hell Gate. It's also home to the Long Island City Community Boathouse, which offers free kayaking within the confines of the cove as well as longer, guided excursions.

Upland access requires hopping a low esplanade railing; not too bad.
