Kent Avenue Beach, Brooklyn

Back to Map

This is a long beach at the end of N. 8th Street in Williamsburg. Because of numerous low-lying rocks, landing looks to be much better at high tide than low.

Behind the beach there used to be a large and not altogether unappealing post-industrial green space where new growth and even trees sprouted out of the rubble, strange characters roamed, and cryptic, impromptu sculptures and shrines were erected. Now it's a state park, which means a swath of green grass, a space-age canopy to provide some shade, and a strict prohibition against being to be on beach, whether you've come by land or sea.
