Fort Hamilton Beach, Brooklyn

Back to Map

This is a little pocket beach under the Brooklyn end of the Verrazano Bridge, formed by the ruins of an old pier and a stone groin that runs parallel to the sea wall. It looks to be a good place to take shelter from a storm, or wait out the tide if you are entering or exiting the Narrows at the wrong time.

Upland access is difficult; there's a high, spiky fence that separates the beach from the Belt Parkway promenade, and some intimidating signage to go with it (see photo at left).
